I don’t know how this hotel maintains its reputation and 4-star status. The main entrance and lobby is high class, seems like it will be a nice stay but many things wrong in the room. The mattress was terrible, no support and felt like I was sleeping on a half-inflated air mattress. Cleaning not up to par. Stray hairs, dirty light switch cover, sheet had a thread bare area as well as towel very well used and thread bare. Mold on the bottom of shower curtain and around the grab bar in the shower. Stain on the headboard. Also barely any hot water. Ran the shower for over 10 min each day I stayed and barely luke warm with the faucet turned as hot as possible. I have stayed at better 2-star hotels. Marriott should be ashamed to call this one of their hotels.

Family stayed at the FANTASTIC Westin Edmonton Hotel, in downtown Edmonton while attending our brother's funeral. We were overwhelmed and impressed by their outstanding kindness and customer service. Four peaceful hotel rooms all received chocolates and sparkling beverages. The check-in clerks were amongst the most professional we have ever encountered. The General Manager, Joumana Ghandour, is likely the most compassionate manager I have ever encountered. All staff's random acts of kindness, including attending our brother's funeral will never be forgotten. Thank you to the Westin Edmonton family for welcoming the Parker family. You all should get a raise!

I’m loyal to Accor brand ( Sofitel, fairmont) , my husband is loyal to Marriott ( Sheraton , Westin ). He chose this hotel as we were in Edmonton on business. Check in was fabulous…. Thank you Rota. Restaurant service was as good….thank you Katheryn. Food was barely edible. The room cost was covered by points. This is where I learned about “ non revenue rooms”. Horrible. Smelled of smoke. Dirty, broken furniture, towels etc as you can see. This is how we’re treated after years of global brand use? No way ! One day : no soap or shower items , next day: no vacuuming, next day : no housekeeping, all days : NO HOT WATER IN THE TAP ???? You must be joking. Mr. Hamid at the front desk should be immediately removed, and rooms like this should be removed from inventory. Of course I demanded all points be returned and parking be paid for. Which of course, they did. Brand loyalty and reviews = revenue. Figure it out Marriott. I strongly suggest you have the comfort convenience, and luxury depending on the level you choose, that is offered by Accor hotels. Ibis, Novotel, Sofitel , and Fairmont are truly where hotels should be. Frankly , I’m tired of paying for hotel losses from COVID. Buy some new towels, buy some new mattresses, or close the rooms.

I had no issues with the check in process. I do not own a credit card and so I had to pay a $300 deposit. The underground parking lot was full, but the back parking lot had room. Too bad they couldn't order nice weather, but not their fault. The room was lovely except I couldn't figure out how to work the coffee pot (I later discovered that I would need to plug it in. LOL). The Share restaurant is PAINFULLY EXPENSIVE and it is obvious why they do not include Breakfast in the hotel lodging fee. The conference rooms were lovely an tech team was amazing! I was disappointed to find out they do not have a hot tub. You would think thin that such a big expensive hotel could find the money and space for it. The upstairs "hospitality" room was small, noisy, and crowded. Then on top of that, when I went to check out, I was told I had a $104 room charge I would need to pau for. I declined having anything to do with that charge! I never ordered any room service! I did acknowledge the 2 breakfasts that I charged and was happy to pay for those. They attempted to investigate the $104 room charge, I waited impatiently in the lobby for nearly an hour. The finally told me that they would not charge me the $104 charge since they were too busy to do a full investigation. I went to my vehicle and noticed I had been fined for parking in the handicap stall. I had parked there at night and the signage is not clear! Thankfully the parking lot is managed by Impark and they cannot enforce fines! Perhaps this is the closest hotel to the convention center that also has convention rooms and so we take what we can get. If I have to choose on my own, I would choose a place with a hot tub and a better restaurant.

Surprising and Disappointing!

Unfortunately, my stay was the worst I have ever experienced with The Westin hotel chain. 1) When I arrived to check in, the key card system was disabled. My son and I had to be escorted to our room. The front staff was courteous but scrabbling to handle check-ins. When we entered our room, I noticed how dusty it was. We booked a deluxe, 2-queen room at $259+tax. Spacious but dated, unlike the other rooms I have stayed in. 2) Because we were limited to our room without a key card, we decided to order in dinner. I went downstairs to get our dinner and stopped at the front lobby desk out of curiosity. The key cards were now available even though they stated they would contact us and deliver them to our room. We were somewhat disappointed because we planned to enjoy dinner in downtown Edmonton. When I asked for the keys at that time, there was no one checking in. 3) We were missing cutlery for our dinner. I called the front desk to request this and 30 mins went by. I called again to ask for it again and it finally arrived 15 minutes later. We waited a total of 45 minutes before receiving cutlery and ate our dinner (most of it) with our fingers. 4) The WiFi service dropped multiple times throughout the evening. This made it very difficult for me to work. My son couldn’t connect his laptop either and had to use the data on his phone. We eventually gave up and went to the pool. I opted to get up at 5:30 am to work, hoping that the connectivity would improve. It still dropped multiple times as I was trying to save my work. However, it worked fine in the venue when I presented. This has been an ongoing issue with the Edmonton Westin for as long as I can remember! 5) We went to the pool. It was freezing! This is not The Westin that I remember whatsoever. Perhaps this is why it was empty? Very disappointing! 6) I placed an order in advance for room service breakfast to arrive at 9 am that evening. The kitchen called us at 8:30 am to say they did not have beef bacon. No problem! I swapped it for a different item. Our breakfast got to our room at 9:20 am. This was terrible, simply because I pre-ordered it knowing I had to speak to a room of over 100 people at 10:00 am. When the order arrived, they forgot our cutlery again. The lady apologized, saying that their system crashed. I ordered an espresso, and that machine was down, so she gave me coffee. No big deal! However, I asked for almond milk, and they were also out of that and gave me oat milk. We paid $55.00 for breakfast! Ate it with our hands again and didn’t get what we paid for. I felt terrible for the server running around the hotel with multiple dishes on her cart. She apologized many times. I am not one to complain. I understand the pressure on staff to perform and provide the best service possible. I feel they did their best under the circumstances, but management and maintenance need to improve. We paid over $300 for our 1 night on a business trip that turned incredibly stressful. I stayed at The Westin in Ottawa for 4 nights in November, which was impeccable! I do hope that we can be compensated for this dismal experience. Something needs to be done to improve the quality of The Westin in Edmonton.
